Energy Efficiency

    i3 website_i3 Focus v1-13

Over the last 10 years energy reduction has predominantly focused on improving the efficiency of data centre cooling systems and IT power supply. Energy at the facilities level was a fundamental first step, however this merely represents the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the true potential to reduce energy costs and improve efficiency.

New innovative technologies applicable to IT infrastructure and software can enable major reductions in energy consumption and provide an inherent benefit of upstream energy reduction due to the cascade effect of software-hardware-facility. Even more encouragingly, many of the energy saving technologies offer positive NPVs with a short term return on investment.

As lead author of the Singapore Green Data Centre Technology Roadmap and advising clients on energy reduction initiatives worldwide, i3 has the insight to offer best-in-class solutions for data centres and technology environments.

Our research in energy reduction strategies include: Energy efficient software, cost benefit analysis of reliable electrical topologies, sleep state adoption, dynamic workload allocation, dynamic power management, renewable energy sources and data centre micro-grids.
